CYSEC2020 Newsletter 1

The first edition of the international scientific and expert conference on Cybersecurity of Critical Infrastructure (CYSEC 2020) will be held in Dubrovnik, April 29-30, 2020. Organized by the University of Applied Sciences Velika Gorica and RiniGARD, and under the patronage of the City of Velika Gorica and Institute for Security Policies, CYSEC is intended for both scientists and experts in the fields of critical infrastructure protection, cybersecurity, cybercrime and cyberterrorism, information and communication technologies, crisis management and many other related fields.

The conference will consist of a series of panels and events which will, through combining experience and knowledge both from the industry and academia, aim toward creating a stronger multilateral and multisectoral cooperation.

The conference keynote speakers will be coming from Croatia, the UK, the European Commission (DG Home and JRC), and the US. The detailed list of speakers can be found at

The accepted abstracts and papers from over 80 experts and scientists from 17 countries will cover topics such as: cybersecurity in transport (airports, seaports, transport), healthcare, energy, quantum computing, artificial intelligence (AI), etc. Submitted papers will be electronically published in Conference Proceedings with international peer-review, and will also be presented at the conference in the form of an oral presentation or through a poster. If the reviewers determine that a paper offers a significant contribution to science, the author(s) will be invited to publish it in the scientific journal Annals of Disaster Risk Sciences.

Up to now, nine confirmed Horizon 2020 projects funded by the European Commission will participate in the conference, covering topics ranging from civil society protection, hospital cybersecurity, protection of air infrastructure, to protection of financial infrastructures, etc., whose common budgetary value exceeds 65 million EUR. The participation of representatives of these projects enables the conference attendees to communicate directly with successfully implemented EU projects, to network further, and to share experiences.

The confirmed conference sponsors, heretofore, are Microsoft, Fortinet, King ICT, H-ISAC and FLEXBIT, as well as other anticipated cybersecurity industry names.

The specialized magazine Zaš is providing the media coverage of the entire conference.
