Max Brandt is the Area Coordinator for Infrastructure Protection (INFRA) in DG HOME Unit B4 Innovation and Industry for Security. Among his responsibilities is the programming of EU-funded security research in this domain. Before joining the European Commission in 2019, he was for 5 years Chief of Staff for a Member of the European Parliament mainly focussing on Aviation and Transport policy and has worked for 2 years in the Security Research Coordination at the German Police University (DHPol). He holds a Bachelor degree in Political Science and a Master in International Relations. In addition to his experience in security research, he has conducted field studies in the area of international relations and police reforms for example in the South Caucasus, in Turkey, Russia and on Cyprus.
